Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice: Implementation and Translation

About the Authors

Stephanie S. Poe, DNP, RN, is director of nursing, and clinical quality, and is the chief nursing information officer at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. She holds a joint appointment with The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She is a respected author and speaker on a wide variety of interdisciplinary quality, safety, informatics, and evidence-based practice topics. Poe was one of the original developers of the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice (JHNEBP) Model. She has extensive experience developing EBP competencies in nurse leaders and bedside nurses, and guiding clinical information system design to embed evidence-based nursing practices into clinical work flow.

Kathleen M. White, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, is associate professor and director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program at The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing (JHUSON), Baltimore, Maryland, USA. She holds a joint appointment as a clinical nurse specialist at The Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH) and as nurse research liaison at Howard County General Hospital. She is a member of a collaborative team of JHH and JHUSON staff that developed the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice (JHNEBP) Model and Guidelines. This model has been highlighted in several publications, including the Journal of Nursing Administration and the Advisory Board Practice Exemplar series. The research conducted on the JHNEBP model won the 2005 Sigma Theta Tau international Research Utilization Award. White has been an active participant in many quality and safety initiatives and has received numerous practice grants. In 2007 she was appointed chair of the Maryland Patient Safety Center’s board of directors.
