About the Authors


Dr. Dent is a hospital nurse executive and academician with a career that spans more than 30 years in hospitals, long-term care and academia. He’s combined his expertise in nursing and leadership to influence nurses, interprofessional colleagues, and healthcare leaders in the U.S. and globally related to culture, improving workplace environments, and nurse staffing. He is the recipient of multiple awards most recently receiving the 2016 Richard Header Visionary Leader Award.

Sandra Bibb, DNSc, RN, FAANM

Dr. Sandra Bibb is Dean and Professor, College of Health Professions, at Wichita State University (WSU). Prior to joining WSU in August 2014, she served as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Department Chair in the Daniel K. Inouye, Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) at the Uniformed Services University. Before joining the GSN, she served in the United States Navy as an active duty nurse and retired at the rank of Captain in 2004.

Elizabeth Rosser, DPhil, MN, DipNEd, DipRM, RN, RM, PFHEA

Following a successful clinical career, Dr. Rosser has pursued a career in nursing and healthcare education for over 34 years, culminating in the role of Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at Bournemouth University. She spent 6 years leading a small bush hospital in Colombia, South America, and a collaborative research project for over 5 years in NE Brazil. She is also a member of the board of directors for Sigma.

Howard Catton, MA, BSc (Hons), RN

Mr. Catton qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 and held various posts in England and the United States. He studied social policy in Cardiff and Industrial Relations at Warwick and was a Personnel and Organisational Change Manager in the NHS. From 2005-2015, Catton was the Head of Policy & International Affairs at the Royal College of Nursing. In April 2016, he was appointed Director, Nursing & Health Policy of International Council of Nurses (ICN).

Amy Pettit, DNP, RN, NE-BC, CSSBB

With two decades of experience in the nursing profession, Dr. Pettit brings a high level of understanding of the challenges healthcare organizations face in providing safe, high-quality care while remaining effective and efficient in service. A transformational leader and valued executive leader, she accelerates organizational improvements. She has been integral in the journeys of excellence her organization has taken to become a three-time Magnet-designated hospital and a recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
